Join us in Oslo for the 2nd TULIPS Progress Event

The TULIPS project continues to serve as a collaborative testing ground for sustainable innovation in aviation. Following our previous Progress Event in Turin, where we explored the role of airports in the clean energy transition, we now invite you to join us in Oslo on 26 November 2025 for the second edition of this event.

Hosted by our partner Avinor, this Progress Event will feature a series of presentations and workshops highlighting the latest developments from four work packages: WP1 (Inter-modal Transport), WP2 (Energy Supply of Future Aircraft), WP5 (Scaling up SAF), and WP6 (Circular Airports)

This is a platform for open exchange, learning, and co-creation. We aim to share interim results, lessons learned, and practical insights that can support airports and mobility stakeholders in their sustainability transitions.

The event will offer a deep dive into several pressing themes on the sustainability roadmap for airports:

  • Workpackage 1 – Sustainable Inter-modal Transport Connections
This session will explore innovations that support seamless, low-carbon passenger and freight journeys, including inter-modal digital twinning, green trucking, and door-to-door sustainable travel solutions.
  • Workpackage 2 – Energy Supply of Future Aircraft
This session will highlight cutting edge advancements in charging and refuelling systems for electric and hydrogen powered aircraft, supporting airports’ transition to future ready energy infrastructures. We will dive into the TULIPS demonstrations connected to use of liquid hydrogen in airports, modular charging and burning of lithium batteries in an airport..
  • Workpackage 5 – Scaling up the SAF Market
The TULIPS consortium will demonstrate large-scale SAF uptake at Schiphol in 2025 and address some of the key challenges that the SAF industry is facing to scale supply towards 2050. The panel includes representatives of KLM, Port of Amsterdam and SkyNRG. The second half of the workshop focuses on voluntary uptake and passenger awareness of SAF, with introductory presentations by Avinor, ZERO, SkyNRG, Schiphol and more.
  • Workpackage 6 – Circular Airports
From Barriers to Breakthroughs: Communication and Psychology for Circular Transitions at Airports.
During this session, we will dive into the soft side of circularity. In the pre-lunch workshop, we introduce the ATLAS Project, look at cases from Oslo airport, and set the basis of the workshop. The after-lunch workshop session will build on the first session, and we will develop an action plan based on nudging strategies. After the workshops, we’ll take participants on a field trip around the airport to showcase a selection of Oslo Airport’s circular initiatives.

The workshops will:

  • Present demonstrator results and early findings from the Work Packages.
  • Facilitate hands-on discussions regarding implementation challenges, lessons learned, and policy implications.
  • Create opportunities for knowledge sharing between technical experts, airports, and aviation stakeholders.
  • Encourage networking and engagement, bridging the gap between research outcomes and real-world application.
