TULIPS Accelerates in its Final Year

April 2026

As TULIPS enters the final year of its programme, everything seems to be gathering pace. The last demonstrations are being scheduled, and the final deep dive sessions have now taken place. These annual sessions bring partners together to review the progress of work packages and demonstrations, challenge one another with critical questions, identify connections between topics, and provide mutual input and support.

From first meetings to concrete results

We can still clearly recall how the first deep dive sessions unfolded in July 2022. Many of us were meeting in person for the first time, after numerous online meetings, and there was a sense of unfamiliarity in those initial handshakes. Back then, the discussions centred on explaining plans and ambitions. Today, the focus has shifted firmly towards results. What knowledge have we gained? And how can we turn this into a coherent roadmap that other airports can use to support their own journey towards reducing emissions, minimising waste, and advancing sustainable aviation?

The role of cross-cutting Work Packages

The cross-cutting Work Packages (WP), WP8 (Performance Monitoring and Economic Data Analysis), WP9 (Deployability, Upscaling and Exploitation), and WP12 (Communication and Dissemination), therefore played a central role. In group sessions, we explored results, key findings, real-world applicability, transferability of innovations, and the maturity of technologies and processes, for all of these insights to be synthesised into the final 2030 Roadmap for airports (WP10).

Looking ahead; the TULIPS roadmap

Curious about the outcome? The Final Roadmap will be officially published on 5 November during the TULIPS end event.
